2.4 Million Brits Watch Ryan’s Debut

As reported by Gary in the comments, an impressive 2.4 million British viewers tuned in to watch the premiere episode of Bionic Woman last week – a record for the channel (ITV2). The controller of ITV2 commented:

”Bionic Woman is a fantastic show and we are very excited that an audience of over two million viewers, our best ever audience, tuned in for Tuesday night’s show.”

I haven’t got the viewing figures for last nights “Paradise Lost” episode, but in the States the viewing figures slumped from this episode onwards – will it be the same for the UK?

Bionic Woman held up with 1.5m viewers last night but ITV2′s other new shows struggled in the ratings.

The US drama earned a strong 7.2% share in multichannel homes at 9pm, though it was significantly down on 2.2m (10.5%) for last week’s record-setting opening episode.

Eick: Bionic Is Dead

David Eick, co-executive producer of NBC’s SF series Bionic Woman, confirmed to SCI FI Wire that the network has indeed canceled the show, though the network has not yet officially said as much.

“I just felt that the process was so frustrating, and the conditions under which we were making that show never really came to fruition in such a way that I felt like we could make the show well,” Eick said in an interview at SCI FI Channel’s upfront presentation to advertisers in New York on March 18. “The actress [Michelle Ryan] we found was wonderful. Some of the writing was good.”

But, he added: “We just didn’t ever bring it all together like we did with Battlestar. At a certain point, when it becomes that frustrating, I think you’re better off to say, ‘Let’s try again another time,’ and let it go.”

Since, NBC said they won’t be making comments til the series premieres in the whole world.

I predict that the controller of ITV2 will sober up when he gets a load of episode 2. Just a feeling in my gut.
