A few ‘Bionic’ related news items for you this Sunday:
Doug Elfman puts the knife in by saying the series begins with a ‘poorly’ done homage to “La Femme Nikita”. Though he does amuse me with the suggestion that the way to keep Katee Sackhoff in check is to “withhold her snacks” – by the way Katee, David Eick said that – I sense a rooftop showdown is on the cards;) Elfman also wonders whether Isaiah Washington will be given his own show next year called ‘Bionic Man’ – Well I think there’s more chance of that than him starring in a show called ‘Teflon Man’..because controversy has stuck to him like nobodies business!
Nypost report that Bionic Woman, Michelle Ryan, has suffered a few war wounds from her fight sequences:
“I’ve gotten quite a few bruises, nothing serious,” Ryan says of the fight sequences, of which there’s about two an episode. “It’s a definite challenge. But I used to dance, so that helps.”
For those of you looking for something inspirational, check out this article about a woman, who through the wonders of modern science, is able to battle Parkinson’s disease -a true Bionic Woman, if you will:
Ann wants me to witness first-hand just how well DBS works so she switches off the pacemaker and begins to cross the room. At the outset, she looks like any healthy soul but, within seconds, I become alarmed as her hand begins to shake uncontrollably, her walk slows and her speech slurs. I am stunned by the speed and severity with which she succumbs to the full effects of PD.
She manages to stagger back to the table and reactivates the pacemaker. In the blink of an eye, she is walking and talking normally again.
One can but marvel that modern medicine can produce such profoundly positive results. However, this procedure is still in its infancy and is not yet suitable for all.
That’s all for now!
