I agree that the episodes need to connect, I hope they tend to this flaw.

IMO, what the old show was or wasn't is irrelevant. Lindsay W. probably doesn't much care for having to comment on the current BW.

The new show is what concerns me. I really want to see a direction emerge here soon. I want a doomsday clock, an endgame, a great Satan with nasty plans, something that will create urgency and tension in the work of this Burket Group. They need a reason for living.

A list is fine if it leads to something bigger. Chips that control human behaviour are fine if they are part of a greater plan. The weekly missions desperately need to connect to each other to form a bigger picture, like a jigsaw puzzle. Episodes need to be chapters in a story, not stories unto themselves (see "Alias" Season 4).

The "dead weight" characters are symptomatic of the overall lack of direction. Jae and Ruth are woefully underemployed and yet they brought Antonio into the group. They cast Jae and Ruth long before Antonio, so why not use them? Why bring in Tom when they can't find a meaningful role for the characters they already have? While we're at it, why is Jonas not a more dominant force in BW?

BW could have benefitted from a year of planning before hitting the air on September 26th. As it is, they are just flying by the seat of their pants. The sooner they get focused, the better the show will be.

I patiently await the evolution of BW into a thrill ride for us grownups.
