Former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star, Isaiah Washington, will apparently appear in 5 of the first 6 episodes of Bionic Woman. According to reports, he will play a ‘mysterious guy’ , who will either be a friend or enemy of Jaime. E Online add:

His character works for the enigmatic scientific agency responsible for engineering the bionics that give Jamie her new abilities, and he is charged with teaching her how to use them.

Washington was recently axed from his role in Grey’s due to allegedly using a Homophobic slur to former castmate T. R. Knight. According to Mercury News, Ben Silverman, Co-Chairman of NBC Entertainment, denied that it was a difficult decision to cast Washington and added:

“the bottom line is that he is a wonderful actor.’’

That may be the case (as he is a brilliant actor), however, it will be interesting to see whether Bionic fans will have pre-conceived idea’s about him. We shall see I guess. From an acting point of view, this is a massive coup for Bionic as someone of his caliber will certainly raise the profile (and expectations) of the show even further.

Silverman went on to say:

“These episodes on ‘Bionic Woman’ and the new development deal will showcase his talents, and we look forward to producing some great television together,”

It would appear that Washington will be involved in other NBC project’s aswell as Bionic. They (NBC) are perhaps looking to rebuild his career and his image - ironic given the fact that his ‘rebirth’ will begin with Bionic Woman.
