I wish I could share your optimisim, Roco, but Michelle strikes me as a naturally cheery, optimisitc, never wanting to make a wave, person (she could change as she grows up), so I cannot myself draw much meaning of these words.
Thank you, though, for posting the video.

I agree with you Jim. I’d love for the show to come back - but who knows. If it does come back i don’t see it getting a 2nd series. Why? The ratings for this have been falling steadily.

I notice that NBC have just cancelled Journeyman http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/television/ratings/e3ib294fb0f03a3a300d396423e6a935647
Does this mean a decision on BW will be made soon?

It’s pretty astonishing that the host keeps mentioning what a huge hit the show is in the States, when you consider the universal trashing it takes in the blogosphere, not to mention in the ratings.

I know Roco can speak for himself (I hope you’re OK Roco; you haven’t posted for a few days which is not like you), but I don’t see where he wrote that the show has been a “hit”. If Page 48 has a direct quote, I would like to see it.
Roco is a fan as we all are; scroll up to the title of this site and you will see it says “fan source”; naturally fans like the show and want to see it continue. Despite the fact that Roco and others like myself like the show does not mean we are blind to the poor ratings, and think the show is a “hit” when it is not.

Jim, Neena - I guess you’re right - Michelle is very professional and would probably say the right things even if she knew that the show was being cancelled - as it turns out she may well have known at the time of this interview.
Thanks for the heads up Gary - Before I found about about todays BW cancellation, I was going to say that the Journey Man cancellation perhaps meant that BW wasn’t too far behind. I guess NBC picked their favourties (Chuck, Life) a few weeks ago. Perhaps though, there were those in Camp NBC who were trying to fight BW’s corner?
Page 48, I think it’s because GMTV are on the same network as Bionic Woman in the UK - he was probably told to gloss over how the show was doing Stateside. I guess the interview was effectively an advertisement for the show in the UK?
Thanks for your concern Jim - I really wanted to post more frequently this past week but I’ve been so busy with life and my Lost sites that I was unable to make a post which I thought was worth reading - I’m back now though, albeit with bad news about BW :( I think (correct me if I’m wrong) that Page 48 was referring to the guy hosting the Michelle Ryan interview? But thanks though :)

You’re right Roco, and I apologize to Page 48 for misreading what he stated. Maybe it will be a nice Christmas present for Michelle if the show does better in the UK; I hope it does.

I sure hope it does Jim! I think ITV2 will be hyping it as much as possible over the coming weeks. It will be interesting to see how it does in the UK, compared to the States :)

I think some of the expectation about how well BW can do in Britain are unrealistic. Some facts to consider:
1) ITV2 is actually a minority channel. It is a digital channel, which means only those with a set-top box or satellite dish can receive it. This rules out roughly half of the population;
2) Those viewers who do have the necessary equipment will immediately have at least 25 channels from which to chose, so there is much “diluation of the pool”;
3) The two channels which get the big ratings, BBC1 and ITV1, only show British-made programs (plus sport, films and news). After all, the likes of NBC and Fox don’t show British-made programs, do they?
4) If a show on one of the digital channels gets a good response, it is sometimes re-run on the corresponding main channel (ITV1 in this case). But even then, it is usually given a less-than-prime slot. Numb3rs was shown at 11 p.m. on Fridays!
5) Following viewing ratings is not quite the spectator sport in Britain that it is in America. We tend to pay more attention to reviews from the media, at least until a show is established. You have seen the show, what do you think the British reviewers will think of it?
For any show on British digital channel, a regular audience of 1 million viewers would be good going.
Of course, there has been much media interest in BW already and MR has a large personal following, so the show ought to do well. But do not expect any banner headlines.

I don’t think the show (as it currently stands) will be an out and out success in the UK, but it should be interesting to see how it does considering MR is the darling of many loyal Eastenders fans etc. If the show gets moved to an ITV1 slot then who knows? But as you say, I can’t see it being a massive success. But then success is relative. With the series set to continue (at least for 5 more eppys) in the States, it could well improve and the Brits are equally knowledgeable when it comes to good tv, which could see the show have good ratings in the States and the UK. Much depends on the next 5 episodes, I think.
