Yeah, making MR the scapegoat is to ignore the elephant in the room, really bad writing combined with absolutely no game plan.

As much as I love “Alias”, I can’t accept that even the excellent Jennifer Garner could have done anything with this show to keep the ratings from being cut in half every week. People seem to conveniently forget that JG and the rest of the cast of “Alias” were handed brilliant scripts week after week, season after season.

People who expect MR to turn crappy writing into riveting TV, are the same sort of people who would expect a shiny new Porsche to run like the wind with a tank full of dishwater.

You’ve hit the nail on the head there Page 48 – shows like “Alias” had great script after great script to work with. JG is a good actress, but I think that even she would struggle in the Jaime Sommers role. Also, I wonder how JG is with accents? I know Michelle Ryan says that she is comfortable with portraying an American accent, but it must still be a challenge. One not everyone would be able to pull off with such aplomb.

    A few thoughts..
    a) I think Michelle has the potential to do a darker, more intense show as evidenced by the early episodes, especially #1. However, the more relevant question is; does she want to? As I stated in a previous post, she stated in an interview she wants to emphasize the “realness” of everything, and we fans want something above (or beneath, depending on your viewpoint) it. So, I say Michelle can do it, but does she want to?
    b) Having said that, if the scripts were going to continue to be dark and intense as the first episodes, would she have accepted the role in the first place? Maybe she knew something going in that it was going to get less intense and more familial and thus, she took the role because of that.
