We should indeed start over, go back to the beginning, when Jamie was mad at the world for what was done to her. She has become too nice, in my opinion, and I hate to say this, but I do not know if Michelle Ryan is the one who can do this. She wants to emphasize the human side to Jamie instead of the heroic side. We need someone who will focus on the heroic, the kick-ass. Where there are heroes, there is lots of action, which many, including myself, think is missing from the show way too much. I am curious if others agree with me that Michelle Ryan may not be the one who can live up to this, that they may need to find someone else to play a more action-oriented heroine.

A re-imagining is certainly required, but I can’t think of any precedence for a show being re-booted after a weak start. I read somewhere on the internet that “Man From Uncle” changed course after a season or two and went off in a more comedic direction. I never watched that show but it doesn’t sound like a great idea to me.

BW was tossed around in David Eick’s mind for a long time before it debuted, so I would have thought that it would have a clear sense of identity, but who knows what kind of interference has led to the dog’s breakfast we have now.

I’m not sure how much of Jaime’s character is left up to MR’s discretion. She has indicated in interviews that she is fully up for the physical aspect of the show and want to do her own stunts as much as possible. I think the problem is more a lack of imagination on the part of the “creative” team. Let’s face it,an argument could be made that Jonas is too nice, Ruth is too goofy, Jae is too sullen, Becca is too uninvolved in the plot, Sarah is too over-the-top. In other words, there is a lot of weakness that needs to be addressed.

I like MR, she’s young, she’s fit, and she’s gung-ho. There’s no reason why she couldn’t pull off a more action-oriented Jaime Sommers, IF ONLY someone would ask her to.

TV shows should be tailored to the fans’ taste (with certain limitations, of course), not the network executives’ taste. How can you expect to sell advertising if your viewership is cut in half every week?

I too think that MR is up to the challenge. I think that she has some say in how to portray her character but ultimately I think that the overall ‘template’ of the Jaime is dictated to her by the powers that be. Jim, I hear what you’re saying regarding Jaime being more heroic, but I personally think we need a ‘balance’ of Jaime’s human side and her heroic side. I would like to see that manifest itself in Jaime’s story as it would, I think, be interesting to see where the demarcation line between the human side and the machine side, rests. I think that NBC have to be more realistic and realise that heroes are not born..they are made, and often the struggle and the journey is complicated and far from black or white. I would just love to see a more complicated Jaime..as she seems far to ‘easy’ with her life right now..and the Pilot did not suggest that this would be the case.
