The problem with BW fans going “nuts” is that NBC gave BW viewers no reason to care whether the story continued or not because, let’s face it, there really was no story at all. If I wanted to be generous, I would say there were 8 separate stories and each of those was brutally written, sadly lacking in intensity and made no attempt at continuity or direction.

“Jericho” on the other hand told a compelling story in its first season, which begged for a satisfactory conclusion and its cancellation was only due to network stupidity, which is not without precedent.

Networks don’t get it. “Alias” was canceled several years too early. It was moved around in the schedule and actually spent the last 2 seasons in Canada in the “prestigious” 4:00 Sunday afternoon slot. What kind of idiot programming is that? Not that Canadian viewership counts in terms of ratings, but jeez Louise, 4:00 p.m. on Sunday????

Another example is FOX’s brilliant decision to cancel “Firefly” after a dozen eppies aired. I’ve been downloading and watching that series this year and it’s extremely engaging TV IMO. What kind of mentality goes into network decision
making? Why spend millions developing crappy new shows when you’ve already got a winner on your hands? You clearly don’t have to be smart to be a TV exec. Reminds me of the guy at Decca Records who opted not to sign the Beatles.

MR’s Eastenders co-star Craig Fairbrass turns up on “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”, playing, what else but an English badass. Imagine that, they let him keep his British accent.
